Congratulations to our two Mackenzie Odyssey of the Mind teams that competed in the Region 5 tournament at OU BOCES on Saturday, March 2. Our 4th & 5th grade team did a theater rendition of Ernest Hemingway's classic novel "The Old Man and the Sea" and our 3rd grade team chose to compete using the long-term problem "Rocking World Detour". While neither team placed, all of the participants had a great experience!

Mackenzie winter clubs are coming to an end this week (there will be a few make ups when we return from break). We had 16 clubs offered this winter! One of which was the Taylor Swift Club run by Mrs. Counts & Mrs. Mikiewicz. This club was offered to students in grades 2-4 and its focus was on friendship, kindness, artistry, female empowerment and the group's love for Taylor Swift's music.

In our 5th grade ELA classes, Mackenzie students pretend they were detectives to figure out who kidnapped the groundhog. They used close reading and inference skills to work together as a team to find evidence to support or refute each of the six suspects. They worked hard to complete the challenge!
