Community members are invited to come to the Mackenzie Pantry on March 25 between the hours of 3:30-7:00p.m. See flyer for details.

Have you heard of a blind book exchange? It is a creative, anonymous book swap. Typically the book is wrapped in a paper where you can't see the cover art, author or book title. Clues are on the outside of the wrapping paper as to what the book is about. You select a book and in this case check it out of the library. You only find out what the book is after you've checked it out of the library. Mrs. Bizjak, ECS school librarian, has set up a March Luck of the Read section in the GRM library. Students can read a synopsis of a "blind book" and check it out of our library. This may lead to finding a new author or topic they enjoy. You never know where reading will take you.

Time is running out to guarantee a copy of the 2026 GRM yearbook will be available for your child. Reserve your copy today! https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/productBrowse/1022274/Mackenzie-Elementary-School/2026-Yearbook/20250909042027670124/CATALOG_SHOP/

The Mackenzie PTA Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser is live! Whereas most orders are done online, some families choose to sell through the brochure. This is a reminder that the paper order form and payment need to be turned into the GRM office by Friday, February 13. The paperwork states the last day to turn in orders in February 16 but school will be closed for mid-winter recess at that time so make sure they are handed in no later than the end of the school day on Friday, February 13!!

Eldred Junior–Senior High School will be closed today due to a heating issue.
G.R. Mackenzie Elementary School will remain open on the previously scheduled 2-hour delay.
Thank you for your continued support.

Eldred CSD will be closed on Monday, January 26, due to impending weather conditions.

We are very excited to announce that GRM will host our first ever Talent Show on Friday, February 13, from 1:00–3:00 PM!
In true Leader in Me fashion, this event is all about “Show Us Your Genius!” 🌟 Any student who would like to participate will have the opportunity to sign up next week. 🎶🕺🎨
Performers will bring home an invitation for their families with additional details as we get closer to the event. We can’t wait to celebrate the unique talents and leadership of our students!

Students explored the Ancient Civilizations of the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans, writing essays that compared and contrasted topics such as farming, religion, written language, architecture, and social structure. To wrap up the unit, students collaborated with Ms. Brown our Art Teacher to create amazing 3D pyramids, Chinampas (floating gardens) with Mrs. Marcinak, Aztec mosaic masks with Mrs. Saavedra and each student also colored their own Aztec Calendar with Mrs MacWilliams. What a creative and educational end to an exciting unit! 🎨📚

GRM is excited to host a Vocation and Avocation Café for our students on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 9:00–12:00.

Our fifth graders have been working so hard the last few weeks doing their ecosystem research projects. They created their trifolds based on accurate research methods and then designed an accurate representation of their ecosystem. They blew their presentation out of the water with their quick responses to their classmates questions. These projects will be displayed in the STEAM fair later this school year.
