The New York State Education Department (NYSED) requires all school districts to conduct an annual early dismissal, “Go Home Drill” to test the usefulness of our communications and transportation systems during emergencies.
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, all students and employees must leave all school buildings 15-minutes prior to regular dismissal time. George Ross Mackenzie Elementary School will dismiss all pickup students at approximately 2:45 p.m. and bus students will depart at approximately 3:00 p.m. Bus students should arrive home approximately 15-minutes BEFORE their usual drop-off time. Please plan accordingly.
If you need to change your child’s dismissal plans for that day you MUST notify the Mackenzie office no later than 1:00 or we will be following the instructions you provided on your child’s early dismissal form that we have on file.
Please review procedures with your children that they should follow if they are to arrive home earlier than expected and plan accordingly for appropriate supervision with bus drop-offs being 15-minutes earlier than normally scheduled.
